SearchEngineSpy is a well-known UK web resource that contains web related information and resources. As well as details of top Search Engine Marketing companies in the UK, the website also reviews new and established search engines and directories and provide articles on current changes within the industry.

SearchEngineSpy was in dire need of a makeover- the design was out of date, the layout confusing, with poor navigation and broken links.

Elemental Creative provided usability testing consultancy for the website to ensure all usability issues were documented and rectified.

The usability testing services provided by Elemental Creative Ltd were based on those devised by leading usability experts. The website was measured against a set of defined and recognised usability guidelines (also known as heuristics).

Results

As well as ensuring that the site complied to these usability standards, Elemental Creative Ltd also performed accessibility testing to ensure the site was accessible to all users. The website was tested against the WAI guidelines (Web Accessibility Initiative) set up by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

As a web resource with a lot of information, the navigation was re-designed for ease of use so that information could be found in the shortest length of time. The site was also designed to ensure that users didn't get lost in the website. Finally, the front page of the website was re-designed to draw users into the website to easily unlock the wealth of information inside.
