User Testing and Usability Testing - SecurFone / www.securfone.com

Elemental Creative Ltd performed usability studies on the website www.securfone.com, a telephone number service, which enables users to set up temporary numbers to their existing phone.

Having decided to re-design their website, SecurFone contacted Elemental Creative Ltd to perform usability testing on their original website, and subsequently, on the websites' re-design.

Upon completion of the re-design, which was based on the recommendations put forward by Elemental Creative Ltd, SecurFone then asked Elemental Creative Ltd to perform another usability test and user study, to ensure that there were no new usability issues.

Results

Elemental Creative Ltd manually measured the SecurFone website against a set of defined and recognised usability guidelines (also known as heuristics), based on those devised by leading usability expert, Jacob Nielson.

In addition to this, Elemental Creative Ltd carried out two user task studies, performed by 8 real website users, which uncovered usability issues that had have been obscured or missed out using other evaluation techniques.

The information from the user studies was compiled and analysed and findings were gathered in an in-depth but easy to read report, that provided recommendations on how to increase the website's effectiveness.
